Winter

We have been learning all about winter holidays this week and are eagerly looking forward to winter break!

Writing

We have become super writers here in Kindergarten! We are busy writing each day and use our writing folder to help us remember our letters. It also reminds us that even when we think we are done, we have only just begun! :)

Landforms & Bodies of Water

We have been learning about landforms and bodies of water in social studies this week. We made a craft in which we labeled mountains, hills, plains, and water.

Bats!

We learned all about bats this week and are very excited for our Halloween party tomorrow!

Pumpkins!

We took a trip to the pumpkin patch and learned all about pumpkins! We identified the parts of a pumpkin, the pumpkin life cycle and things we can make from pumpkins!

Fall

Fall is here and we have been learning all about the season and the changing of the leaves!

All About Apples!

We learned all about apples last week! We studied the parts of an apple, things we can make from apples and the apple life cycle!

Wind

We are talking about wind this week in science and made wind socks today! We even took them outside and watched as the streamers blew in the wind!

 

Collaboration

We worked on this months TASS (Thinking and Academic Success Skill) of Collaboration today! Each table helped to create a picture depicting a different kind of weather and then shared with the class.

Corduroy

We read the book, Corduroy this week and identified the characters, setting and sequenced the events!

All About Weather!

We are in the midst of a science unit all about weather! We talked about the types of clothing we would wear in various kinds of weather today!

 

We read the book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and talked about uppercase and lowercase letters. We then created our own coconut trees with our names on them and counted the number of letters in our names!

Welcome!

I am so excited to begin my 7th year teaching kindergarten this August! I have worked hard this summer to prepare our classroom for a wonderful school year!

 

Last Day of School!

I am so very proud of all of my students this year who worked so incredibly hard! You are going to do so well in 1st grade! Have a great summer!

 

Tens and Ones

We have been working on representing numbers using tens and ones in math this week!

Ways to Make 6!

We have started to learn about addition in Math this week and made butterfly fact families for 6!

 

 

2-D Shape Models

We made models of 2-D shapes with marshmallows and identified the number of sides and corners!

2D Shapes

We have been identifying and describing 2D shapes this week in Math!

Mealworms!

We have been studying and observing the life cycle of a mealworm in science. A few of our mealworms have already turned into darkling beetles!

 

Representing Numbers in Different Ways!

We practiced representing numbers in different ways this week. Examples include: showing a number on a number line, on a tens frame, using tally marks, drawing a picture, etc.

Editing and Revising

We have been working on editing and revising our writing this week! We created a story with a beginning, middle and end and have been practicing how to peer edit.
