Gingerbread Houses!

Today was our last day of school before winter break and we had a lot of fun making Gingerbread houses! :)

We practiced making words today that end in -at, -an and -am!

Parts of a Plant

We planted bean seeds this week and learned about what a plant needs to grow. We then drew and labeled the parts of a plant (flower, stem, roots, leaves).

Thanksgiving

Today we wrote down all of the things that we are thankful for :) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break next week!

Kindergarten Sight Word List

Please continue to review sight words at home with your child. The words we have introduced so far are: I, go, it, is, the, to, look, we, like and at.

American Symbols!

Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

We had a great time at our field trip to the pumpkin patch this week! We got to take a hayride, see farm animals and pick a pumpkin to take home! A big thank you to all of the parents who came along with us!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am so excited to begin another great year of teaching Kindergarten! We are going to have so much fun and learn a lot! :)

King of ing!

We learned about words that end in -ing this week and made 'King of ing' crowns with all of the -ing words we could think of written on them!

Maryland Science Center Field Trip

We had a great field trip on Friday to the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore!

Eating 3D Shapes

We got a chance to review 3D Shapes by eating foods shaped like cylinders, cones, cubes and spheres (tootsie rolls, hershey kisses, caramels and chocolate whopper candies)

Goods & Services

We have been discussing goods and services in social studies this week. The children got into small groups and made a poster advertising a service. These boys created a poster advertising a lemonade stand. Other students chose services such as a car wash, dog walker, babysitter, etc.

Love a Book Week!

We had the privilege of having some parents come in this week to read one of their favorite books to the class! We even had a parent read to us in Spanish! Thank you parents for making the time to come in! We loved having you!

100 Days of School!

We made it to the 100th day of school! We celebrated by making hats that said "I am 100 Days Smarter!" We also tried to think of 100 new things we have learned so far this year. We wrote what we would do if we had $100 and drew what we will look like when we are 100 years old! :)

Wants & Needs

We studied about 'wants' and 'needs' this week in social studies. The kids formed groups and drew various wants and needs on posters and shared them with the class!
