Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

We read the book 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom' this week and discussed uppercase and lowercase letters. I created some centers for the kids that required them to form their names with letter tiles and to match uppercase and lowercase letters.

Zoo

We had a great field trip to the zoo on Friday! We wrapped up a week of talking about animal habitats and enjoyed seeing some of the animals we had studied. Thanks to all of the parents who came along!

Addition!

We have started learning addition facts this week and I created some great center games for the kids to play to practice adding!
The students choose 2 number cards and write the answer to the addition problem with a dry erase marker in the blank rectangle


The kids play with a partner and use a teddy bear marker/game piece and dice for the 2 games pictured above. They must answer the problem correctly to move ahead

A visit from a fireman!

We studied community helpers a couple weeks ago and had a firefighter come in to talk to the class today! The kids loved hearing him talk about fighting fires and getting to look at all of his gear!

President's Day

I created a craft for the children to draw a picture of what they would look like if they were president and what they would do if they were president!
The students wrote things such as "I would give speeches to a lot of people" and "I would get to ride in a limo" :)


We also read books about past presidents like Abraham Lincoln as well as our current president Obama. We discussed what the president does and the importance of his job.
